On Wednesday, April 22, the public will have a unique opportunity to visit the Tres Hermanos Ranch site any time between 9 a.m. and noon. The 2,445-acre protected open space, located on both sides of Grand Avenue between Diamond Bar and Chino Hills, is generally closed to the public but has opened occasionally for guided tour events.
On April 22, the site will be open to anyone interested in going on a short, moderately challenging hike, with the historic barn serving as the turnaround point. The hiking route is approximately 3 miles over uneven terrain so sturdy footwear is recommended.
Admission is free, open to all ages, and no advance registration is required. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Additionally, dogs and other pets are not allowed, with the exception of service animals.
The starting point is Grand Avenue Park, located at 1301 Grand Ave. in Chino Hills, where all participants will register, sign a waiver, and receive a wristband. Once registered, participants can hike the designated route at their own pace, but must return to the starting point no later than 2 p.m. when the gates close.
Any questions about the April 22 event may be directed to the City of Chino Hills Recreation Department at 909-364-2700.
The Tres Hermanos Ranch is managed by the Tres Hermanos Conservation Authority (THCA), a joint powers agency formed in 2019 to preserve and protect the open space. The authority is governed by representatives from the cities of Chino Hills, Diamond Bar, and Industry.
